Where it comes from
Distilled from resin-soaked heartwood of Aquilaria trees in South and South-East Asia. The resin forms as the tree defends itself against infection.
How perfumers use it
Worn as oil (dehn al oud), burned as chips and used in perfume. Most “oud” perfumes use an accord.
Did you know? Healthy agarwood barely smells; only infected wood produces the precious resin.
Safety & regulation
Wild Aquilaria species are protected under CITES; buy only from documented, legal sources.
For education only. Raw materials should be diluted for smelling and never applied neat to skin. Always follow the supplier’s safety data sheet and the current IFRA Standards.
