Where it comes from
Steam-distilled from the heartwood of Santalum album (India, now mainly sustainable plantations in Australia) and Santalum spicatum.
How perfumers use it
A soft, long-lasting base for florals, ambers and attars. Often supported by sandalwood molecules.
Did you know? Mysore sandalwood was so over-harvested that its trade became tightly controlled; today’s perfumes rely on plantations and molecules.
For education only. Raw materials should be diluted for smelling and never applied neat to skin. Always follow the supplier’s safety data sheet and the current IFRA Standards.
