Where it comes from
From the rhizomes of Iris pallida or Iris germanica, dried for about three years before distillation into “orris butter”.
How perfumers use it
Gives elegance and a cool, powdery luxury to florals, musks and woods.
Did you know? It is one of the most expensive materials in perfumery; the scent molecules (irones) only form as the roots age.
